Single Pitch Award (SPA)

The Single Pitch Award is ideal for anyone with personal climbing experience who has led at least 15 traditional climbs on leader placed protection at grade Severe, who is involved with schools, outdoor centres, youth groups or acts as leader for groups of novices.

The SPA will give you the skills needed to supervise groups of novice climbers in potentially hazardous environments.

The Single Pitch Award provides training and assessment on how to organise and supervise safe, effective and enjoyable sessions on single pitch crags around Britain.

Before attending the SPA training course candidates must be at least 18 years old, have at least 12 months climbing and be a member of the British Mountaineering Council.

Before attending the Single Pitch Award assessment candidates should be aware of the syllabus in the back of their logbooks.

Courses run at The Warehouse Climbing Centre are run over 2 days and cost £155 per person.  Please contact Tony Penning via his website for more details. www.tonypenning.co.uk
