In just 2 years, over 250 children have registered with NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) here at The Warehouse Climbing Centre. This recognised scheme can be linked to school education, counting as part of a school’s sports program.
We are also a partner in Gloucestershire County Council’s ‘Do Something Different’ scheme which enables children to experience activities which may otherwise be financially unattainable.
For this, we designed a number of different packages, allowing the children to pick and choose the experience they wanted. These included outdoor climbing, activity days and sessions with our Rock Academy climbing club.
As a physical activity, climbing ticks many boxes – it’s a non-contact sport that is suitable for children of all ages and abilities, it builds mental concentration and is great for physical development (building strength and maintaining flexibility).
It is suitable for mixed-sex groups, can be as competitive as you like from simply ‘have a go’ through to competition level and often proves to be an inspiring and engaging activity that children continue to pursue with a passion as they grow-up.
We’d be delighted to work with you to offer climbing based activities as part of your sports education program.
